According
to the Mangalashtaka Shloka if you have to go to do Ashtavinayaka
Yatra then go to Mayurashwar of Morgoan have his blessings, then
go to Siddhatek and have darshan of Siddhivinayak, Ballaleshwar
of Pali on third place and Varadvinayak of Mahad is fourth. Then
come to Theur and have darshan of Shree Chintamani and get rid
of all your Chintas[worries]. Then come out of Pune and go to
Girijatmaj on the mountain Lenyadri near Junnar and have the darshan
of Vigneshwar of Ozar. After this go to Ranjangoan and have darshan
of Mahaganpati and then again come to Morgoan and complete the
pilgrimage. Though the Ashtavinayak temples are all very ancient
they have been renovated during the Peshwas regime.
A pilgrimage to the Ashtavinayak or eight important Ganapati shrines
ensures the Pilgrims ever-lasting bliss.
Shree Mayurashwara of Morgoan situated on the banks of river
Karha comes in Baramati Taluka, in District Pune. The shape of
this place is like a peacock and had many peacocks as such it
is called 'Morgoan'. The temple faces north, has a mouse made
of black stone holding a laddu in his front legs, there is also
a big Nandi. The Main temple is made up of black stone. The temple
has four gates. In the eastern gate is Lakshminarayan, giver of
Dharma. In the southern gate are Shankar -Parvathi giver of Artha-desired
goals. Then comes the western gate where Rati and Kama reside.
Lastly in the northern gate resides Mahivaraha (Earth and Sun).
All the deities reside in this temple. In the eight corners, there
are 8 statutes of Ganapati called Ekdanta, Mahodara, Gajanana,
Lambodar, Vikata, Vigharaja, Dhumravarna and Vakratunda.
In the temple complex there are trees of Shami, Mandar and Tarati-
called Kalpavruksha. To the left side of Mayureshwar is Nagnabhairava
to whom we first pay obeisance. The deity 'Moreshwara' inside
the sanctum is very attractive - in a sitting posture, facing
east with the trunk turning left. In front of the idol are Mooksha
(rat) and Mayura (peacock).

Siddhivinayak - Siddhatek is on the bank of river Bhima where
Lord Vishnu performed penance. It is believed that Siddhivinayak
leads work to completion. The temple is on the hill facing north.
The idol is facing north with the trunk turned right. Riddhi and
Siddhi are sitting on one lap of Vinayaka. Brass idols of Jay
and Vijay are placed both sides of Siddhivinayaka. In the sanctum
itself there is a Shivapanchayatan and Goddess small temple.

Ballaleshwar - Pali is situated between fort Sarasgad and
river Amba. Since vinayaka gave his darshan in the guise of Brahmin,
idol of Pali is dressed up as Brahmin. Two lakes encircle the
temple complex. The shape of the stone temple is in the form of
letter "Shree" and faces east. At sunrise the sunrays
falls exactly on the Vinayaka. There is a rat idol with Modak
in his hands and facing Ganesh. The idol of Vinayaka sitting on
stone throne faces east and its trunk is left turned. In the background
there is Riddhi and Siddhi waving chamaras.

Varadvinayak - is situated in Mahad, which has beautiful surroundings.
There is one Nandadeep (lamp) alighted for last 107 years. The
temple has been renovated recently. There is a Goumukh towards
north and holy water (tirth) comes out of this Goumukh. The original
idol of the Vinayaka is seen outside the sanctum. Two stone idols
of Riddhi and Siddhi are there in the sanctum. Two Ganesh idols
are situated in the two corners. The idol is in sitting position
with the trunk turned left and faces east.

Chintamani - Theur is the nearest place of Ashtavinayak from
Pune. It is said the one who is in search of happiness, whose
mind is wavering like Lord Brahma, who is in midst of calamities
should go to Theur and worship Shree Chintamani and get rid of
all Chintas (worries) and calamities. Idol faces east is self-emanated
and has a left side trunk. The main archway of the temple faces
north. There is a small fountain made up of black stone in the
hall. There is a small temple of Lord Shankara in the courtyard
of the temple.

Girajatmaj Vinayaka Temple at Lenyadri on the outskirts of
Pune is the only place, which is situated on the mountain and
in the vicinity of the Buddhist caves. It is the eight caves out
of the 18 Buddhist caves on the mountain. These caves are also
called Ganesh caves. The temple is reached after climbing 307
steps or takes a dandi as I had done. The entire temple is carved
out of single stone and is facing south. In front is a huge hall
without a single pillar. It has 18 small rooms for meditation.
Shree Girijatmaj's idol is placed in the middle room. From the
main temple one can see the River flowing and Junnar town spread
near the river. The idol faces east. Parvati consecrated Ganesh
idol in the cave wherein she had performed penances. The idol
has been carved on the stone wall of the cave.

Vighneshwar Vinayak - Ozar is situated on the banks of river
ukadi. Among the Ashtavinayaka temples it is the only temple with
golden dome and pinnacle. Here the Lord defeated the demon. The
temple is facing east is surrounded on four sides by a protective
stone wall. At the entrance there are two ' Deep Malas' of stone
and two huge 'Dwar Palaks' that is guards. There are rooms for
meditation on both the sides. The main temple has two halls. At
the entrance there is idol of rat in running position made of
white marble. Colorful attractive sketches decorate walls. Idols
of Panchayatan (Sun, Shiva, Vishnu, Goddess, and Ganapati) are
situated in the Four Corners of the sanctum. Idol of Lord Vigneshwara
Vinayak faces east and the trunk is turned towards left. On the
two sides are brass idols of Riddhi and Siddhi. Temple has golden
dome and pinnacle.

Mahaganapati - Ranjangoan. Mahaganpati means powerful Ganpati.
Mahaganpati has eight, ten or twelve hands. Lord Shiv Shankar
got victory over Tripurasar (demon) on worshipping Mahaganpati.
Therefore it is called "tripurari Varado Mahaganpati".
The temple faces east has huge and beautiful entrance gate. Jay
and Vijay are present at the gateway. Nagakhana is situated above
the entrance gate. The sunrays fall directly on Shree Ganesha
idol. The idol facing east is in crossed-legged sitting position
with broad forehead and trunk turned towards the left. Riddhi
and Siddhi are on both the sides of Mahaganpati. It is said the
original idol of Mahaganpati is hidden in the cellar in the basement.
It is said it has 10 trunks and 20 hands. The stone pillars of
old temple indicate that architecture is similar to 9th or 10th
century architecture.
