Allahabad Benaras Sarnath Kathmandu Kathmandu-City Tour

At the convergence of the holy rivers Ganges and Yamuna is situated the city of Allahabad. The River of Enlightenment, the Sarasvati River, is believed to join them here. Their sangam (confluence) is considered to possess great soul-cleansing powers and all pious Hindus hope to bathe here at least once in their lifetime. Thousands bathe here every January/February in the Magh Mela and once every 12 years in the Kumbh Mela, world's largest gathering of pilgrims. Allahabad has a fort built by Akbar, which overlooks the confluence of the rivers, and also the Nehru family home, Anand Bhavan.
