This is the temple of Lord Shiva and is one of the Jyotirlinga. The temple is situated in the mountain ranges and is accessible by walk, ponies or dandies. Here the Divine Lord saved us [ me and the dandy carriers] from falling down the mountain ranges due to the heavy fog while ascending to the temple. This miraculous escape from death was an experience. I was alone so fortunate to have the first pooja at 5 am in the temple. I offered the Brahma Kamal which I had brought from the Valley of Flowers.

Mathura Around Mathura Hemkund Badrinath Kedarnath Gangotri-Yamunotri

KedarnathThe holy city of Kedarnath is situated 3581meters above sea level, on the banks of the river Mandakini, amidst the spectacular mountain ranges of the Himalayas. The Kedarnath shrine is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the destroyer.

In the Kedarnath temple, Lord Shiva is represented in the form of jyotirlinga. The interiors are decorated with exquisitely carved images. At the entrance of the temple is a statue of Nandi, the celestial bull. As the temple is located at a great height in the Himalayas, it is not possible to gain entrance into temple throughout winter. The landscape at Kedarnath is absolutely breath taking.

Kedarnath is accessible by walk, pony or dandies as the motorable road is unto the base. It is considered auspicious to offer the Brahma Kamal from the Valley of Flowers on the Linga.
