Religions
These have been compiled from the Vivekananda Series, Bharathi Vidya Bhavan Series and Sai Literature and Indian Culture and Spirituality Books. Sitting on the Vivekanand Rock at Kanya Kumari on 12-03-2001 I was guided with these thoughts.

Teachings
From the age of 17 years I have been attending regularly the Summer Course In Indian Culture and Spirituality conducted under the Divine Guidance of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Brindavan, Whitefield, Bangalore. Religions of the world have common teachings. Indian Culture explains these values and ask man to search for the Divine within himself and lead a life Divine through the different pathways of Gyana Yoga, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga.

OM SAIRAM

GaneshaThe religions of the World have common teachings:
1. Love
2. Truth
3. Good Conduct and Morality
4. Simplicity
5. Service
6. Selflessness, Sacrifice
7. Faith in God

Indian Culture and Hinduism has all these values. The most important principle our culture teaches us is that god is everywhere; all that exist is divine; the entire creation is godly in nature. God is described in various ways as Love, Peace, Grace, Wisdom, Creativity, Truth, Goal of Life, Consciousness, Beauty, Tenderness, Compassion, Talent, Totality, Perfection, Power, The Cause, The Dharma, The Light, The Freshness, Greatness and Fineness and as the soul behind the creation. All the sages have always proclaimed that god is everywhere. The universal being pervades all creation. It fills all the quarters. It is the only thing that exists.

Another important tenet of the Indian culture is god is one but he is called by many names - Vishnu, Shiva, Devi, Ganesha and so on. He is worshipped in many forms namely Fish, Tortise, Boar, Lion, and so on. Further various symbols such as Trident, Linga, Spear, Snake, Bull, Lighted Lamp, etc are also worshipped. This unity in diversity is the principle of our culture.

Indian culture asks man to search for the divine within himself. To lead a life divine is the goal of life as defined in our culture. Though god is one, he can be reached through many ways. Those who are intelligent take the path of wisdom or spiritual enquiry- Gnanayoga. Those with tremondous will power, controlling their body, breath and mind follow Rajayoga. Bhakti Yoga is the path of love used by the kindhearted people of great compassion and love.Karma Yoga service to mankind is service to god.

Indian culture advocates a life of self - restraint. Celibacy, Chastity, Selflessness, Sense Control, Tolerance, Truthfulness, Non-Stealing, Non-Accumulation of wealth, Purity of mind and body, A Sense of Satisfaction, Contentedness, Austerity, Surrender to god and the Study of the Scriptures.
