The features of Indian Culture are innumerable and each can be a detailed topic to be discussed. Best of my knowledge is the effort to summarise in few words.

Special features of Indian Culture:

  • God is one
  • God though one can be worshipped in many forms, many names and in many ways
  • Each soul is potentially divine. Of all the forms of living, human being is the highest. Divine power is manifested in man
  • God can be worshipped in feminine form too. Hinduism is called a feminine religion
  • Each shapes his own future. His sorrow and happiness are his own creations
  • Human beings and all other lives are subject to rebirth
  • God is both Saguna [ positive virtues ] and Nirguna [indescribable]
  • God comes to earth in many incarnations - Avataras
    Avataras - Krishna Avataras -Rama
  • Number of scriptures with the help of which man can raise himself to perfection
  • Lays stress on human experience and consciousness and not on mere book knowledge
  • Every generation has its own religious and spiritual leaders who take the masses on the path of righteousness
  • It talks not of change but growth. Man is not a sinner to be changed. He has a dormant energy to be awakened
  • God id both immanent and transcendental
  • Dharma [righteousness], Artha [prosperity], Kama [pleasures], Moksha [liberation] are the stages to build self-confidence in the aspiring man
  • Man's godward march is graded into stages as a student, householder, forest deweller and a hermit
  • Man's effort to reach the absolute will not be hampered by the caste he is born in, his social status, or the type of work done by him or the stage [Ashrama] of his life
  • Art, Science, Politics, Sculpture and Language are useful tool's in man's effort for liberation. The analysis and synthesis of scientific principles find a significant place in our culture
  • Propogates the value of chastity, selflessness, control of senses, forbearance and self-restraint
  • The goal of life is to reach the state of perfect, undiminishing, everlasting bliss
  • Propogates a life of morality and happiness for all people without differences of rationality, religion, race, or language
  • Propogates social values such as non-violence and abstinence
  • Life is to be lived in totality and not in segments
  • God can be reached through many paths namely Raja Yoga, Karma Yoga, Jnana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga
  • Indian culture gives the highest importance to Morality, Ethical Values and Right Conduct
